Soccerfest Announces Brookhaven Park as Location
Also Announces Partnerships with Georgia Soccer and Dragon Goal; First Annual Brookhaven BBQ BASH

 

ATLANTA (April 7, 2015) – Atlanta Soccerfest today officially announced that the location for SOCCERFEST II, “The Final Countdown” will be Brookhaven Park. Brookhaven Park was the site of the 2014 Soccerfest  which drew over 20,000 soccer fans to cheer on the USA vs Portugal in their second match of the FIFA World Cup. This time around, SOCCERFEST II will be showing the third place match of the FIFA Women’s World Cup on Independence Day – Saturday, July 4th – and the World Cup Final on Sunday, July 5th.

Along with the World Cup viewing parties, Soccerfest is planning a Brookhaven Movie night on Friday July 3rd, soccer tournaments and games throughout the weekend, as well as food trucks, a kids fun zone, and FIFA XBOX Tournaments. Soccerfest will also bring back the popular Soccer Arcade on Sunday prior to the World Cup Final.

In addition to all of the soccer festivities, Soccerfest also announces the First Annual Brookhaven BBQ Bash, which will take place on Saturday, July 4th, prior to the showing of the third place match of the FIFA Women’s World Cup.  The Brookhaven BBQ Bash will be a Georgia BBQ Association (GBA) sanctioned competition with a total purse of $10,000, one of the largest in GBA history.  The BBQ Competition will also include a People’s Choice Award where the public will get a chance to sample BBQ from some of the best BBQ teams in the Southeast.

Soccerfest President Craig Fanti said about the BBQ BASH: “It just make sense to us. What is more patriotic than BBQ on the Forth of July? Add beer to that and a blues concert on the main stage, you can’t go wrong!”

Soccerfest is also proud to announce partnerships once again with Georgia Soccer and Dragon Goal USA.

Atlanta Soccerfest Announces First Location
Strategic Partnerships Announced with Soccer in the Streets, Atlanta Silverbacks, and Atlanta Contact Point
ATLANTA (March 16, 2015) – Atlanta Soccerfest is announcing today that the location for SOCCERFEST I will be historic Candler Park. On Friday, June 12 at 8:00 p.m., the second USA game vs Sweden will be shown on a massive screen in the park. On Saturday, June 13, one more World Cup game will be shown at 4:00 p.m. featuring two soccer giants, England and Mexico. A 5K and Fun Run will also take place in the morning on Saturday and there will be soccer activities for kids and adults of all ages all day, and a fun zone for smaller fans. As it cools down on Saturday evening, movie night will begin with two movies being shown on the big screen.

 

“We are excited to bring SOCCERFEST back for the Women’s World Cup and we are hoping for huge crowds to come out and support the US Women’s National team as they go for their 3rd World Cup Championship” said Craig Fanti, President of Atlanta Soccerfest.

 

Representatives from Atlanta Soccerfest will be at the Candler Park Neighborhood Association meeting on Monday March 16 to answer any questions from the community.

 

When asked about the event, Kwanza Hall, Atlanta City Council District 2 said, “As a soccer fan myself, I am pleased that Soccerfest has chosen to come to Candler Park. I know that Atlanta’s soccer fans in Atlanta will come alive for the Women’s World Cup.  Events like these are great for the community and help generate excitement around the arrival of MLS soccer in 2017.”

 

Soccerfest is also proud to announce strategic partnerships with the Atlanta Silverbacks, Atlanta Contact Point and Soccer in the Streets.

 

Atlanta Silverbacks FC is currently Atlanta’s only professional soccer club, competing in the historic North American Soccer League (NASL). The club was founded in 1998, and competed in the A-League until 2004 when they joined the USL First Division. The Silverbacks reached the USL Championship Game in 2007 and earned its first championship in 2013. The team plays its home games at Atlanta Silverbacks Park, which houses a 5,000 seat stadium. Come visit the Soccerfest booth at the Silverbacks games starting on April 4th when the Indy Eleven come into town for the first game of the season.

 

Atlanta ContactPoint (ACP) engages children and adults through the power of play by creating collaborative neighborhood platforms to facilitate comprehensive wellness and learning programs that include sports, fitness, arts and nutrition. ACP’s mission is to grow healthy communities through fun. ACP will be organizing the 5K Run for SOCCERFEST I.

 

Soccer in the Streets is a leader in the field of sports based youth development with over 25 years of experience. The organization is a member of the FIFA Football for Hope program.  Its mission is to empower underserved youth through soccer, character development, mentoring, and employability programs. Soccerfest Proudly supports the efforts of Soccer in the Streets.

Atlanta Soccerfest Plans Big for 2015
Fans invited to two large events scheduled during summertime

ATLANTA (February 12, 2015) – The popular Atlanta Soccerfest will be presenting two large events in 2015, centered around the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Both events will be free and open to the public.

In 2014, Soccerfest brought nearly 20,000 fans to Brookhaven Park in North DeKalb County for the World Cup.

This year’s Soccerfest activities will include:

SOCCERFEST I, Group Stage – Friday June 12th – Saturday June 13th.Events will include a stage and large LED screen, live music and entertainment, and the viewing of USA vs. Sweden at 8:00 PM EDT on Friday and Mexico vs. England at 4:00 PM EDT  on Saturday.

SOCCERFEST II, The Final Countdown – Friday July 3rd – Sunday, July 5th. An all-weekend patriotic event with stage and large LED screen with music / entertainment; soccer events for kids and adults; BBQ Competition on July 3rd/4th. Third place match for the FIFA Women’s World Cup on Saturday, July 4th at 4:00 PM EDT and the World Cup Final on Sunday July 5th at 7:00 PM EDT.
